A puppeteer may be going blind, but he’s not losing his “creative vision”. Morgan FitzPatrick Andrews, a performance artist in West Philadelphia, was diagnosed with a rare degenerative eye condition known as Cone Rod Dystrophy. “It t is a dominantly inherited condition,” says Morgan, “so half the people on my father’s side have this disease.”. As he continues to experience gradual vision loss, he adjusts to a low vision life, and this reverberates through his art.

Andrews is known for unique theatrical productions in  unusual locations. His latest project is the first time his focus has been on being visually impaired, and how vision loss affects or alters an artist’s creative process. The more he adjusted to diminishing eyesight, he began to discover an intriguing correlation between clear vision, and a lack there of.
