A tradition that began in 2010, the Council of Citizens with Low Vision International (CCLVI) annually presents the Dr. Sam Genensky Video Magnifier Memorial Award, where the foundation provides selected visually impaired students in need of assistive technology with a CCTV of their choosing. CCTV’s, or desktop video magnifiers, allow students with low vision to read, write, and actively participate along with the rest of the class. Enhanced Vision was proud to take part in this occasion, donating a DaVinci HD text-to-speech CCTV to Bianca Knight, who selected this device to help her read text books during her 3rd year of law school. Assistive technology, like the CCTV’s provided by the CCLVI and Enhanced Vision, give visually impaired users the ability to compensate for low vision by utilizing state-of-the-art high definition magnification. In addition to inventing the world’s first CCTV, Dr. Sam Genensky founded the CCLVI in 1978.
